About CEPAD USA

In 1988, the Council of Protestant Churches of Nicaragua (CEPAD) asked for help distributing its English-language newsletter, the CEPAD Report. In response, a group of volunteers in the U.S. came together to form the production crew; printing, folding, labeling and mailing each issue, as well as developing and expanding the mailing list, and making occassional requests for financial support.

In 1992, CEPAD*USA, a 501(c)(3) corporation, was founded to help facilitate the fundraising and help the people of Nicaragua in their work for justice and peace in their violence-torn and impoverished land.

Today, CEPAD*USA continues the work of publishing and distributing the CEPAD Report, a task that costs about $1,600 US per issue. In addition to raising funds to cover those costs, CEPAD*USA raises another $25,000 to $35,000 each year to support the ministries and programs of CEPAD. CEPAD*USA also organizes travel-study groups to facilitate relationships between the communities of Nicaragua and the U.S.

CEPAD*USA is an all-volunteer organization. Other than costs associated with publication of the CEPAD Report, we have no expenses for administrative staff, office space or other such things. Consequently, donated funds are passed directly to CEPAD in Nicaragua.
